The Nature of Gifts
Gifts are odd things. They don't come with strings. Real gifts are free, with no expectation of repayment or reciprocation. They are not deserved, earned or owed. Sometimes, they come as a surprise. Gifts can seem otherworldly. They don't fit in our routine experience. They break into this otherwise closed loop of cause and effect, shaking up our understanding of our world.
A Writer's Gift
At this time of year, we remember the greatest of gifts. We give each other presents in memory of what we have been given. In doing so, we share in the joy of giving and our world grows a little kinder. The value of the gifts we give lies not in the cost, but in the intent and good will that accompany it.
As a writer, I wanted to give a gift to my readers. This year, from December 21 - 25, Timeslice is available on Amazon.com for free as an eBook. Feel free to download a copy and share the URL as you like. I hope you enjoy it.
Merry Christmas, y'all.
